Here's my fairly accurate sketch of the dress. Enjoy.
1-Bodicefront
2-Underlining
3-Muslin Lining
4-I couldn't find the right straw to do the embroidery acurately so I settled for embroidery floss.
1             2   3     4             5                   6
5- Dupioni- Main fabric
6-Fabric for the underskirt underlayer
I laid out all of the pieces I have cut out so far.
Note: The sleeve pattern piece shown is cut wrong. The back edge needs to be cut with some squareness. The strips that get embroidered and go along the center front aren't shown.
Centerfront of the bodice,Ivory tafetta with gold microbeading. I couldn't find anything with gold thread in it, but it gets mostly covered by beading and embroidery anyways.
There are four layers to the bodice centerfront panel. I already ironed on the fusible interfacing to the back side of the tafetta. Then theres the underlining and lining.
Inside of my bodice so far. There's the Dupioni and the first layer of underlining, and then a second layer of underlining. I stitched boning chanels by sandwiching the two underlinings. No fussing with boning casing.
The muslin lining. Unserged for authenticuty but not yet clipped.
Side and Center back of the bodice sitting on the dressform. The form is a bit shortwaisted for me so it causes a bit of buckling.
Here's the train just hanging bustled. There's nothing supporting it underneath so it's kind of saggy right now. There are two pickup points about 24" down and 8" over. They dont get pulled right up to the waistband either, about 8" from it. I'm going to use plastic boning rings to attatch it directly to the skirt.
Here's a picture of the train unbustled. It's 100" wide before being pleated at the top. It's really important to have enough width. It won't bustle properly otherwise.
Here's the "pattern" that I made for the embroidery on the skirt. Sorry that it's blurry. I did the initial drawing on an 8.5 x 11 sheet and then scanned and blew it up to the right proportions for my skirt.
So it's finally finished! Okay not totally finished, but finished to the point where I'd be the only one to know it's not completely finished... Lol.
Here's some of the research pictures I've found. Most of them are from costumersguide.com. They where such a huge help to me so hopefully you can use them too.
A closeup of the lace/ribbon trim. You can see between the two different pictures that there are different ribbons used in the center of the lace.
